Hey, I've toyed with the idea of starting a food blog for a while now and here it is.
John and I moved to the Chippewa Valley (Eau Claire) in 2006, (technically I came here in 2008, but I visited a lot before then :D ) and since then we've been exploring what the area has to offer in terms of restaurants. It started with just the chains, such as Applebees and Olive Garden because those were the only places we knew how to get to. But now we're familiar with the area, we've definitely branched out.
We kind of make a date night out of trying new places and I thought I'd start a blog about the ones we were impressed with!
Today we decided to try Fired Up Pizza and Cherry Berry Yogurt Bar.
Fired Up:
Score: 10
This place was great! The staff were super friendly, the location was clean and attractive. Looks a lot bigger on the inside than on the outside. We thought their menu was fun and diverse.
Their pizza only comes in 10" personal size, but they are creative enough that it makes it okay. They have several salads to pick from, and you can choose 1/2 sizes! They had a diverse dessert menu too, which is cool.
We shared an italian pizza fries appetizer ( looked like cheese pizza cut into strips) and then I had a mediterranean salad, which was lettuce, cherry tomatos, feta cheese and a vinaigrette sauce. John had a Caprese salad, which we found out has no lettuce - it was just slices of mozzerella with slices of tomato, we thought that was odd, but we didn't read the menu clear enough so that was our fault. Then we made our own pizzas and shared them. We didn't get a dessert because we went to the yogurt bar; but they had at least 5 choices, and the option to cook smore's at your table.
Price wise we got to experience all that for just over $30. which is pretty good in my book.
Cherry Berry:
Score: 10
We love this place, we've been once before and were throughly impressed.
You get a cup and you can fill it with different types of frozen yogurt and toppings. It is self serve, and they give you sample cups to try flavors when you walk in. I like this place because the guy gives you space, the interior is bright and colorful, and the area is clean. You fill your cup and then weigh it, it is priced by the oz, at .44 an oz. We ended up paying $12 for two, but it was so good. (the first time we came they took an oz off for each of us because we were new).
they have many sugar free options and even some dairy free, which is good if your intolerant.
So there you have it! stay tuned, next Thursday we may try out a new chinese place.
